Edible Schoolyard NYC (ESYNYC) is a nonprofit organization with a mission to support edible education for every child in New York City. We partner with NYC public schools to cultivate healthy students & communities through hands-on cooking & gardening education, transforming children's relationship with food.

Hey Everybody 🤗

Welcome back and hope everyone is healthy and happy! Now that the school year is in full swing, the ESYNYC crew is ready to reconnect with everyone. We can't wait to work with you!

I'm providing a quick programmatic update and what we have in store this Fall 2020.

Summer 2020

  • Furloughed from June - August, but fortunately the REC essential worker children did an amazing job keeping the garden alive. Here is a highlight of some of their work!
  • We spent September figuring out what in the world this school year looks like and maintaining garden spaces!

October 2020

  • In-Person & Remote Lessons
  • Begin weekly Family & Friends communications - 10/5 Edition for reference
  • Celebrating "Big Apple Crunch" virtually
  • Distributing Garden Harvest
  • Virtual Family Programming

November & December 2020

  • In-Person & Remote Lessons
  • Virtual Family Cooking & Physical Activity Programming
  • Healthy Holiday Meal Kits

Look forward to hearing from you and collaborating this school year!

Kindly,
Rosa & ESYNYC Teachers

Dear Middle School Faculty,

We're excited to begin in-person and remote ESYNYC classes! I am scheduling elementary classes first next week. I will meet with you all to see what makes sense for middle school in-person engagement.

In the meantime, will you please share the following resources with your students and families?

  • Fall Family Walk with a chance to win a prize!
    • Now until Friday, October 16th
  • A Remote Orientation Lesson in English & Spanish to share in Google Classroom. It's a PearDeck, so we will be able to see the answers. We should be granted access to google classroom by the end of this week.
  • FREE Garden Harvest Bags - Must RSVP to Ms. Rosa - rm@esynyc.org
    • Wednesday, October 14th

Thank you for your support and patience here at the beginning of the year.

Kindly,
Ms. Rosa, Mr. Anthony, Ms. Jo, and Mr. Shey
